Turkmen Civil Activist Dismissed from Job
Mohammad Ali Hadadi, Deputy of Management and Resource Development at Golestan University of Medical Sciences, issued a decree dismissing Atlan Bayat, a nurse and civil activist, who had been officially employed in February of last year.
According to Tohra, human rights activists in Turkmen Sahra reported that Atlan Bayat was dismissed from his government position despite protests, due to his political record. Last year, following an earthquake in Khoy, Bayat had organized and delivered public aid to the affected county.
An informed source told Tohra that the reason for his dismissal was his civil activism. Bayat had been officially employed as a nurse in February of the previous year. Earlier, on June 14, 2022, he was arrested by the Ninawa Intelligence Organization of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Golestan Province after a home search, based on a judiciary order from Golestan Province. He was held for several days in detention and interrogated.
Branch 5 of the Gonbad-e Kavus Judiciary, headed by Judge Ali Ziaei Joibari, later issued a 200 million toman bail for Bayat, and he was released upon posting bail.
Among the charges against Bayat were insulting the Supreme Leader, boycotting the Sabah factory, distributing Turkmen books, propaganda against the regime, and communicating with opposition media.
Ultimately, the First Branch of the Gonbad Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Teymouri, sentenced Bayat to suspended imprisonment and a fine of 7 million tomans.
