Confirmation of Death Sentences for Two Turkmen Political Prisoners by the Supreme Court
The death sentences of two Turkmen political prisoners have been upheld by the Supreme Court. According to Tohra, Turkmen Sahra human rights activists report that the Islamic Republic is seeking to execute two Turkmen citizens, Farhad Shakeri and Taj Mohammad Khormali. Their death sentences, along with those of four other political prisoners, have been confirmed by Branch 39 of the Supreme Court.
These prisoners, who are being held in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, were sentenced to death on charges of “armed rebellion” (baghi) through “membership in Salafi groups” and the “National Solidarity Front of Iran’s Sunni community.”
